Parish Safeguarding Officer |
Acting PSO: The Revd Dr Naomi Wormell A new Parish Safeguarding Officer has been appointed subject to DBS clearance and will come into post in Spring 2025. Judi Marshall-Sole and Sallie Corrigan have been recruited as DBS administrators Alan Sole has undertaken the mammoth task of identifying al the policies which we are required to adopt and personalising them for our particular requirements |
Policy |
the Parish Safeguarding Policy, which follows the Church of England Parish Safeguarding Policy, was reviewed and re-adopted in April 2025. The PCCs also began to review and adopt the full complement of safety and safeguarding policies required by the new CofE Safeguarding Audit, which will form part of the Archdeacon’s visitation in 2025. |
Concerns raised in the year |
A disclosure was received which was unrelated to parish activities. In consultation with the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor the disclosure was referred on to third parties who were already involved. No further action was necessary. |
Update on training in the year |
All PCC members are currently up to date with their training. All PCC members have undertaken Basic and Foundation training. All PCC members have undertaken Awareness of Domestic abuse Training (this is no longer a requirement for elected PCC members) PCC members with responsibility for recruitment have undertaken Safer Recruitment and People Management Training Lay and ordained ministers are up to date with Leadership Training All newly recruited volunteers have undertaken the required level of training Casual organists are made aware of safeguarding policy and requirements in writing Regular casual organists will be safely recruited |
Update on DBS checks |
All PCC members have current DBS certificates, or are currently in the renewal process |
Safer Recruitment |
All new helpers at Little Angels have been safely recruited |
Actions for 2025

1. To induct new PSO and team 2. To explore using the Safeguarding Hub to record all safeguarding information and support training and DBS check updates 2. To review all safeguarding and safety policies required by the CofE audit 3. To continue to monitor safer recruitment and support of volunteers. |
